DOWN THE MEMORY LANE
What is a teacher?
I’ll tell you:
A teacher isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows.

Okay okay!! I know my site is about “travel and people”, but you don’t always need to cross continents to travel and explore and interact with people. School is a place that you always despise in the very beginning. I am sure everyone of you might have cried on your first day to school, as well as on your last day in that very place. What causes this transition? I don’t know about you all, but I am going to take you through my school life and tell you about the most important characters in it…..MY TEACHERS.

I was a little girl, 4 or 5 years old when I first passed through those gates, holding my mother’s hand, refusing to let go, uncertain of what lay beyond. I think I would have been like that if I had not got that opportunity in UKG, to participate in a dance competition and that’s when everyone came to recognise me.
Then, came the changing point in my life, I came first in my class (and that too in first standard) and that’s when everyone around me started expecting more from me and I think I have lived up to that, maybe, and why wouldn’t I, I had wonderful teachers! who were maybe strict when I was young but as I grew up, they became my friends.
I remember many of my past teachers used to say to us often, “You’re going to forget us once you leave this class”. I want to say to all of them that I haven’t forgotten anyone, I remember everything that you have ever done for all of your students.
I remember that we used to cut cakes on Diwali, I remember how we used to practice for the cultural programme along with our dance teachers, getting scolded now and then, I remember how our teachers used to present plays and dances on children’s day, I remember how we used to beg our teachers to let us play a game in free periods, I remember how we used to wait all day long for the games period, really, how we used to get disappointed when the period was taken by some other teacher to make us study!!
Yes, I know that you wouldn’t find sentences like “teachers change the world”, “teachers contribute to nation building”, “teachers’ day is celebrated on 5 september every year”etc. in my blog because (i) everyone knows this and (ii) I haven’t copied this from the internet. These are my words. I have written what I felt. If I could I would have written names of all my teachers, but then it would have taken another post I suppose. But I really owe everything I have achieved and will achieve to my teachers:)

Dear Siya,
Thank you very much for your touching and beautifully written messages. If I am not wrong the photograph posted was of Diwali celebration when you were in class IV. It was a great time which I will never forget in my life. I am very thankful to God who has given me an opportunity to teach you.

Siya, talking about your teachers and pay respect to them is allowed, you do not need to apologise for that.
By the good luck 👍
